Genre blog - decision

 After a lot of research on the different genres of thriller, horror, and documentary, my group decided that our film will be best as a horror. With the mysterious murderer concept, horror was the best fit in our pitch and the resources needed were at best fit for both of us. In the thriller genre, there would be a need for a lot of fake weapons and props, which could be hard to find or just isn’t in our budget. Documentaries would require time consuming editing to fit a theme and our re-enactments would make the film seem less serious. Horror often has mystery and escape scenes which would create the perfect amount of suspense for our film, that’s why it was the best pick for us.

      In the short film it addresses the issue of selfishness and taking someone for granted. In the beginning of the film, it starts out as a moment of rekindling of friendship between the two characters, where they highlight each other on significant moments in their life separate life and the one they both shared before. By this the audience gets a grasp of the two personalities of the characters and as the film develops and the scene changes the audience also gets to grasp the unfavorable traits of each character. She is responsible and reliable. I trust that I can rely on her for help and support. She also shows a lot of commitment to her work. She is a visionary and I am a strategist, which made me think this was a good balance for a team. We’re skilled in different things, which I think could be helpful for this project.
