Research: how to make a short film
Writing tip: “If first, you're going to go left, go right” meaning that your first instinct is probably the action that the audience is anticipating and that it's better to do the opposite or nothing at all to not deflate the tension of the film.
This tip could help us in our film as it we wouldn't want it to be predictable and lose the focus of the audience, but instead keep the audience interested and desire to watch more of the film.
Gear tip: If you know that you have limited resources keep in mind the limitations you could have in your film. You might not get the exact effect you imagined, but these limitations could help you come up with alternatives for your film.
This tip is important to our film as we are mostly using our phones and laptop to film and edit. It's important that we know our limits in order to utilize them to our best benefit and achieve the effect we wanted as close as possible
Gear tip: Sound is an important part of the film. If you don't have the right gear to capture really good sound, don’t write something that has heavy dialogue. Instead, write something that has minimal or no dialogue.
This is also a helpful tip for our film because our film takes place in most public spaces and there can be a lot of different sounds interfering with the production of the film. So to counter this we would use public sound and background to enhance the film instead of going against it.
